A series of new works by Yuliana Kusumastuti, a result of her daily activities of sorting out her possessions, what she needed to keep, and not needed anymore. An easy task but involved all the emotions and feelings connected to the memories we hold.

A series of new works by Yuliana Kusumastuti, a result of her daily activities of sorting out her possessions, what she needed to keep, and not needed anymore. An easy task but involved all the emotions and feelings connected to the memories we hold.
One bag is full of happiness a reminder of my homeland, my childhood and all the souvenirs from traveling.
One bag is full of the angriness, sadness and all the feeling that let me down, but I keep ignoring to throw away. Carrying my own burden.
One bag is full of giving to loved ones.
One bag is empty, very light and nearly flys away when the wind comes.
Another bag is ripped before I put anything in it.
Each bag holds a story.
Story that we can make it, and we can change it…
What is in your bag…??
I use my art as a vehicle to understand others, understand other cultures, races, beliefs and disability.
I like to share what Robin Richmond in Frida Kahlo in Mexico (1994) statement “What really makes each artist unique is his or her sense of place, and how he or she fits into it. A knowledge of an artist’s cultural and biographical history helps us climb inside the work”
